UK Nursing Registration

There are essentially three parts:

  • CBT (Computer Based multiple choice Test).

Part 1 Competency Test

Available throughout the world and applicant nurses can invariably take the test in their own country.

Part 2 Competency Test

  • English Language Testing (IELTS)

The Nursing and Midwife Council accepts the Academic version of IELTS (International English Language Testing System). UK nurse applicants must achieve a 7.0 score in the four parts, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Note that nurses need to sit for the Academic test, the cost of the test is RSA3700.

Minimum required results:
Nursing in the United States: Average of 6.5 with Spoken at 7
Nursing in the United Kingdom: 7 in all areas, Speaking, Listening, Reading, Writing.
