The Nursing and Midwife Council accepts the Academic version of IELTS (International English Language Testing System). UK nurse applicants must achieve a 7.0 score in the four parts, namely reading, writing, listening and speaking.

British Council locations in South Africa to sit for the IELTS exam are in: Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Pretoria – Events Centre and Port Elizabeth.
Note that nurses need to sit for the Academic test, the cost of the test is RSA3700.
