Registration for Nigerian nurses

To nurse in the UK there are essentially three parts:

Part 1 Competency Test

  • CBT (Computer Based multiple choice Test).

  • English Language Testing (IELTS)

The Nursing and Midwife Council accepts the Academic version of IELTS (International English Language Testing System). UK nurse applicants must achieve a 6.5 score in writing, and 7 in reading, listening and speaking.
The British Council locations in Nigeria to sit for the IELTS exam are in Lagos, Port harcourt, Abuja and Kano.

Part 2 Competency Test

  • OSCE (Objective Structured Critical Examination)

Note that nurses need to sit for the Academic test, the cost of the test is GBP176.
Minimum required results:
Nursing in the United States: Average of 6.5 with Spoken at 7
Nursing in the United Kingdom: 7 in Speaking, Listening, Reading. 6.5 in Writing.
