Job: Cardiac ICU
Cardiac Intensive Care Unit Nurse (CICU): 30-bed in-patient unit:
Provision: hemodynamic monitoring, treatment of adult patients during the recovery from cardiac and thoracic surgery.
Monitoring capability is available at each bedside. Four negative air-flow isolation rooms and 6 barrier isolation rooms. Each isolation room is fully monitored with a remote alarm system to the center island station.
This unit provides first class 24 hr service on an on going service
Coronary Artery Revascularization
Heart Valve(s) Repair or Replacement
Surgical Repair of Congenital Cardiac Anomalies
Thoracic Aortic Repair (open repair and deployment of Endostents)
Ventricular Assist Support: HeartMate XVE II, Heartward, Centrimag and Impella for both bridge and destination therapy.
Trans-aortic valve replacement (TAVR)
Position reports to the Clinical Coordinator.
Principal responsibilities: supervises individual patient care during procedures. assesses, plans, implements, evaluates.
Education: Nursing Degree/Diploma from a School of Nursing.
Licensure: License in the state of Georgia.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years nursing experience.
Skills: Good knowledge of basic clinical skills.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Maintains confidentiality.
Certification: Basic Life Support Certification within 480 hours of employment and meets re-certification annually. ACLS Certification required with re-certification bi-annually.
Physical Effort: Low to Medium work level, wearing lead aprons, handling ransport carts.
Hours of Work: Day shift with call evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis.
Other: Works under the following conditions: potential exposure to mechanical, chemical, electrical, infectious, and environmental hazards. Includes exposure to ionizing radiation.
