US Nursing: Macon
Nurses will find this delightful city lies approximately in the centre of the state. Indeed it is know as the “heart of Georgia’. This calm but industrious centre benefits from a rich historical past. In part predicated upon the native indian settlements but mostly from the Civil War. Macon was an important arsenal as well as prison for captured Union officers.
Today a nurse and family will see that the cities origins are much in evidence. The ancient Indian mounds are an interesting excursion. For a more intense cultural experience Macon also houses the state’s largest collection of African American history, art, and culture. Of special interest are the absorbing musical heritage, picturesque architecture, and rich historical past. Essentially the most memorable location is the city itself. Notably the Civil War era and Antebellum architectural masterpieces.
Macon has the head office of Capricorn Records. There is little doubt that the city is, or has been home to a long list musicians popular across the world. They include Little Richard, Otis Redding and the Allman Brothers Band.
