Harvard Medical School

Overseas nurses in the USA will recognize that the Harvard center of research is one of the leaders in healthcare development in the United States.

Harvard’s interest is broad and it generates a large number of papers within the medical field. There are many professors leading all kinds of research. The following takes a look at Harvard University’s leading authors in 2019.

  1. Gad Gets, a professor of pathology at Harvard Medical school, well known for his research in cancer genome analysis. Under Getz’s leadership, the Cancer Genome Analysis group has established itself as a world leader in the development and application of genomic technologies and next-generation sequencing for analyzing cancer mutations. Getz analysis data across a cohort of patients with the aim of identifying alterations in genes and pathways that cause cancer or increases the risk thereof, as well as identifying molecular subtypes of the disease.

  1. Aviv Regev, a computational and systems biologist at Harvard University, is known for her work investigating how complex molecular circuitry functions and adjusts in response to genetic and environmental changes, cellular differentiation, evolution and disease. In one of her most recent papers, Regev assesses the feasibility of vaccine-based mutated genes called neoantigens, which can be used to fight glioblastoma tumors.

  1. Lastly, we have professor Ramnik Xavier, who investigates the molecular mechanisms of the immune system, as well as genetic variants associated with Crohns disease, ulcerative colitis and autoimmunity. Xavier contributed to a recent Nature paper that assessed the ability of certain beneficial bacterial strains to confer anti-cancer immunity.
