DescriptionThe ERs patient population is culturally diverse and ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics. Patients have varying diagnoses from GSW, MVA, trauma (high end trauma is stabilized and transferred), MIs, CHF, COPD, pneumonia, bone fractures etc. The Psych unit / CDU is part of the Emergency Department. There is a separate area for peadiatrics patients which are fast tracked. Nurses employed in these positions will plan, direct, and provide professional nursing care within an assigned unit using a multidisciplinary approach. QualificationsApplications will be condsider from nurses who hold an RGN qualification and are currently practising as an ER / A&E nurse. Although idealy you will have passed your NCLEX, the hospital will consider applications from exceptional nurses who are yet to start the NCLEX process. Excellent clinical assessment and communication skills. Nurses be able to understand the patient’s condition and be able to communicate this to co-workers. Registered Nurses will have a sense of autonomy as this is a community based hospital where RNs work closely with physicians. As nurses will frequently be speaking with physicians over the phone, communication skills are essential.
