Cincinnati - Detail on Physiotherapist Positions

Locations: Bethesda North, a level 3 trauma centre and the Good Samaritan Hospital, a teaching facility Department: Musculoskeletal and Rehabilitation Services Through expansion, both Bethesda North (24 minutes north of Good Samaritan Hospital ) and the Good Samaritan Hospital (closer to downtown) have added 2 new patient towers to their campuses.

1) Bethesda North recently increased it’s size by 40% adding another 127 beds for a total of 400 beds.
1 physiotherapist is needed for inpatient rehab which has a separate designation and 3 physiotherapists for acute therapies meaning ICU, OB, NICU, Pediatrics etc.
In 2007, Rehab Services treated 342 patients, 54% male, 46% female, average age 69 years old. Diagnoses included stroke (106 cases), brain (32), neuro (36), arthritis (74), ortho (63), spinal cord (7) as well as others. 75% of patients are discharged home after treatment, 12% go to long term care facilities, 8% get transferred to an acute unit and 5% to rehab.

2) Good Samaritan recently added a new 10 story patient tower with a Total Joint and Orthopedic Program, each with its own dedicated floor.
The physiotherapist positions are concerned with a primarily patient population is geriatric, 40% stroke, neuro, 20% ortho, spinal cord, head injuries, congenital defects, aneurysms.  Functional Improvement Measurement.

Diagnoses included stroke (112 cases), ortho (158), brain (81), neuro (85), spinal cord (39), amputee (21) as well as others. 77% were discharged home after treatment, 9% to long term care facilities, 9% to an acute unit and 5% to rehab.

Duties: The physiotherapist assists in the treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use of therapeutic exercise, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic functional activities and the application of modalities with the purpose of restoring or facilitating normal function or development in the patient.

The physiotherapist provides comprehensive evaluation and develops goal driven treatment plans taking into consideration the patient’s age, educational level, family support, and cultural and psychosocial issues. Provides comprehensive and appropriate therapeutic management including periodic re-assessment and goal modification, patient/family education, ongoing discharge planning and referral for appropriate professionals/programs. Maintains all required documentation within time frames and guidelines established by the department. Communicates effectively and efficiently with team members including the patient, family and other customers. Actively participates in center and team functions such as program development, program evaluation and continuous improvement etc.

Profile: These US physiotherapist positions require health professionals who are personable, have a strong work ethic and are patient oriented. The physiotherapists should have a desire to provide excellence in patient care, a belief in patient care and patient satisfaction, an ability to work with a diverse patient population and experience with in-patient rehab.
