How does it all work?

  1. Complete the Adevia application form and return it with an up to date CV (following CV guidelines) to Adevia via email (as an attachment.)
  2. An Adevia US Nurse Recruiter will conduct an informal interview to discuss your education, experience, desired position, location and requirements.  Depending on your specific circumstances, you will be required to pass certain exams.  We will discuss which exams you will be required to take, and an estimated timeline for your immigration to America.

  3. Once you have completed the necessary exams and are ready for hire, your profile and requirements will be matched up with our extensive list of current vacancies; Adevia will begin discussing your application with our hospital partners in the United States.
  4. When a hospital is interested in interviewing you, an Adevia representative will make contact and arrange an interview (via telephone, videophone, or in person.) You will be given information about the position, benefits, the hospital, community, etc prior to the interview.
  5. Once successful at interview, you will be given a job offer and contract to sign.  You will be informed of certain documentation to be submitted to Adevia.  (Copies of your passport, nursing diploma, nursing license, certificates, etc.)  Adevia will then file your immigration paperwork.  Please be advised, the usual processing time for your immigrant visa (greencard) twelve months from the date of filing.
  6. Once you have accepted your position with a US employer, you will be enrolled in the exclusive ‘Adevia USA Engagement Program.’  This program will prepare you for nursing in America, assuring you meet all of the requirements to be hired by a US facility.  This program will see you through to your arrival in the USA.    
  7. You will continue through the 'USA Engagement Program' taking you through the entire process of obtaining your US nursing licence & green card.  Upon completion of the program, you will have obtained your US nursing license and greencard and you’re ready to go!

You will arrive in America to begin the "Adevia Settling-In Program."  You will receive ongoing assistance on all aspects of adjusting to American life, including help with accommodation, transportation, bank accounts, etc.  You will also be assigned a hospital preceptor to help you adjust to your new working environment.    

Required Exams for USA

To be eligible to nurse in America with Adevia, you must be a registered general nurse with at least one-year postgraduate experience and have good English language skills.

Nurses educated outside the United States must meet certain requirements before legally nursing in America.  Adevia offers an extensive ‘USA Engagement Program’ to assist you with meeting all of these requirements.  For most nurses these requirements will include:

 

NCLEX State nursing license

  • Every nurse wishing to practice in America must pass the NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination.)  In order to be found eligible to take the NCLEX, you must apply to the board of nursing in the state you wish to practice.  
  • Once you have been accepted as an Adevia candidate, we will guide you through the application process for licensure in your specific state of employment.

English Language Exams (TOEFL & TSE or IELTS)
  • Most nurses educated outside the USA must pass an approved English Language exam before practicing nursing in America. 
  • Currently, only the TOEFL & TSE and the IELTS are approved. 
  • Visit www.toefl.org for information on taking the TOEFL & TSE. 
  • Visit www.ielts.org for information on IELTS exam
  • Applicants who received their nursing education in Australia, Canada (except Quebec), Ireland,  New Zealand, Trinidad & Tobago or the United Kingdom, and their text books and instruction were in English, are exempt from this requirement. 
Immigrant Visa (Green Card)
  • In order to be found eligible for a greencard, you must obtain a Visa Screen Certificate issued by CGFNS.  This certificate is proof that you have met the federal requirements for entry and employment to the United States. 
  • Adevia will handle all of the attorney fees and processing, you must obtain this certificate for your embassy interview. 
  • Visit www.cgfns.org for information on obtaining a visa screen certificate.
